What is our identity right now?
What is our identity as a football team? I’m sure that like me most of us watch MOTD and you can see how other teams are set up and how they play. They have a pattern, a method and use the players they have to carry out these things.

Man city, to an extent Chelsea, sadly the yids, all have flare players in abundance and you can see what they are capable of – turning games around, controlling games, and in Man city’s case demolishing teams with their skill, but most other teams, Man U, with all their talent included, have a format, a method and by and large stick to it.

Some are counter attack, some pack a strong midfield, some are purely attack minded, or rely on pace and aggression so my question is –

What the fuck is our strategy and strength because I’m fucked if I can work it out.

I love this club, have never been able to think about supporting any other, would rather quit supporting a club than ever contemplate switching, but this is just another utter shambles in a long history of despair.

I’m realistic enough to know that we are never going to be a top four club without massive investment. We never have been so I’m not pissed off about it.

But what I am pissed off about is that my club, our club, has been ripped up and thrown into the garbage and nobody who is in a position of influence, apart from Billic, seems to give a fuck.

I say apart from Billic because he clearly cares but sadly is not competent enough to change it, but the others? Where the fuck are their principles about our club.

They destroy our home and move us to this dump with no connection whatsoever to our roots yet expect us to turn up week in, week out and watch this shit.

As a team we have no passion, no pace, no structure, no pattern, no style, no comradeship and seemingly no idea how to change it.

In short – what is the current West Ham way? What can other teams expect when they play a current West Ham side. We were once renowned for playing stylish, attacking football and it was accepted that we’d probably lose more than we’d win overall but at least we watched our players trying fucking hard and trying to play good football. That’s kind of all we asked for – but now? Even a style, a signature, a ‘West Ham way’ has been demolished.

We have no idea what to expect from our side from one week to another and that, above all else, is the worst thing.

We have totally lost our identity as a club. And that, for me, is probably the worst thing I have seen at our club in the 54 years I’ve been supporting us.

Simply put we don’t have one.

West Ham London is only 2 years old, the thick lying cunts in charge didn’t think about a new identity whilst shitting all over our old one.

We are a dying club...

Plenty of bods don't go, the ones that do are mixed in with daytrippers & neutrals from other clubs.

Win, lose or draw the crowd empties out on 70 minutes despite "world class" transport links.

Re: What is our identity right now?
I certainly always took pride in us being a working class club, the first "united" (i.e. non-sectarian) club in London and being rooted in a working class & migrant area, where stories could be told even if there wasn't a football cub there.

Add to that my own connections with that little patch of East 13. Those that know me off-line know about my "mongrel pedigree" with West Ham + the East End (one and the same to me) forming one of relatively few threads of consistency in my background.

But West Ham, London!? Give me a fucking break. We're East End. We're not from the poncey West End, nor the scummy outer west London (might have similar issues to our East End, but still different). And we ain't norf London and we're certainly not from sarf of the River. Once I saw that fucking badge I couldn't see myself buying another West Ham shirt or any thing else to be honest.

The dildomongers and Kaz-the-Gooner have badly fucked up on our identity, which to put it into Kaz-the-Gooner's Apprentice-speak, they've fucked up the very heart of the West Ham brand.

I think whatever is thought about the move it is CLOSER to the clubs ROOTS being Stratford.

You counties boys just need to study a map of East London a bit more before whining about identity..... an identity most of you doing this kind of whining have adopted by the way.

Hipster FC.
More of them by the game, trying to be football lads but totally missing the point.
Where the owners and Brady really show their incompetence is that they think these Premier League type fans and day trippers will keep turning up regardless.
It's all dependant of the club staying in the league AND doing well. Performances like Brighton with the toxic atmosphere it creates will not entice them back or attract anymore.
If we do go down then they will then be relying on the proper fans to fill the place, many of whom have already jacked it in.

Spurs did it. Leicester won the league. Wenger ran Arsenal on a shoestring really. I think it can be done.

On identity, it's been an issue for most of the period since the turn of the century. A succession of pragmatists in charge, very few with a blueprint for what the club could successfully be. No vision.

fair point bud but using Leicester as an example of non investment winning through?

Come on mate, that's stretching it to say the very least. One season wonders based upon an extraordinary set of circumstances that nobody believes will ever be repeated.

Not saying we're better than them, but they are no more a top 4 club than we are, we are most certainly not.

True. Just pointing it out they did do it. Agreed you can't really model a club on Leicester - Arsenal and Spurs much more relevant models to us. But really every club is different, and needs to find their own way to suit their own circumstance. We don't have an approach that even seems to be trying to build anything at all. It's just waving the chequebook at a few ageing names.
